**Springfield M1D Garand
.30-06. 24" barrel length. SN: 2819129. Parkerized metal arsenal refinish set in walnut semi-pistol grip stock and mounting an M84 telescopic sight to an M1D pattern scope base. Long stroke piston driven semi-automatic sniper rifle charged with en bloc clips. Rifle mounts T105 pattern rear aperture sight paired with a front blade with protectors in addition to the scope. Receiver marking reads U.S. RIFLE/CAL. .30M1/SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY, with the serial number corresponding to May, 1944 production. Barrel displays two P proofs, one additionally punch dot marked, and is dated S-A-9-52, indicating it was likely rebuilt as a sniper rifle in 1952. Scope base is unmarked, as is typical for M1D sniper rifles. Scope bracket shows a circle M mark to the left side, and a correct rough finish with polished connection surfaces, countersunk screws, and the right screw does not pass completely through the bracket. Scope mounts a plate reading TELESCOPE/M84/SERIAL NO. 30951, rubber eyepiece, sun shroud, and protective caps for the turrets. Trigger housing is marked D28290-14-SA, bolt struck D28287-19SA/A-6, and the replaced operating rod is radius cut and marked 7790722-RA, with a further NM marking for National Match, suggesting it may have been replaced since it was surplussed by the government. Stock mounts a leather cheek pad struck MRT/2 52 on the right side, and features leather laces with brass grommets. Flash hider marked HIDER FLASH M2/THE HART MFG. CO. Stock void of tools. Comes with a canvas Nobuckl sling. Item comes with government bill of sale, a list of accoutrements, and a letter from CMP to club leaders informing them of the procedure to request M1C and M1D rifles. {C&R}
